The Deaf Ministry was started in October 1989 at Friendship Baptist Church.  Kitty Coltrane (our first deaf member) and Diane Nolte (an interpreter for the deaf) joined the church and soon after began teaching sign language classes.  We have many faithful interpreters in our church family who use their ability to get the Gospel message to the hearing impaired.

The Deaf Ministry has touched many lives and has been instrumental in meeting the needs of both Deaf and Hearing.  We have been blessed to see many souls saved and lives changed through this ministry.  We consider ourselves an outreach to the community, welcoming college students and others as a place to communicate with the Deaf, while at the same time planting seeds for the Lord.

We attend fellowships, workshops and deaf camp.  Our sign choir performs at Christmas and occasionally throughout the year.  Sign language classes are provided January through May.

We thank our Heavenly Father for the Deaf who walk through these doors and for the dedicated interpreters who faithfully serve Him together.  We would like to extend our gratitude to our Pastors for their leadership, guidance and love for this ministry.  We also thank our families and friends for their support and encouragement as we minister to the Deaf.
